Quick single strap purse tutorial

wanted a little single strap purse to take on my vacation. I wanted it light enough to just carry a couple diapers wipes and my wallet. I also wanted it small enough that I could just shove it in my Vera Bradley duffle bag for the flight.
I looked at a couple of stores and didn't find anything so I decided to make one myself.
There wasn't any patterns on pinetrest so I made my own.

The dimensions is 15 1/2" wide 10" tall (not including the strap) and 4" deep. I also used bias tape to finish the edges.

I also added a pocket in the lining to hold chapsticks and other little things

Start by sewing the corners first and then I ironed down the seams.  Don't forget to sew in the pocket before sewing the purse together.
Next put the two pieces together and see together.
Next press all of the seams on the lining and shell of the purse.
Next I sewed the bias tape to put it all together. I've never worked with bias tape before but once I got the hang of it it makes it easier to finish off the edges.
I think it turned out great!

Pimping the trailer some more

I have had on my to do list for over a year now to reupholster the table cushions in my trailer.  I have never upholstered anything before so that's probably why it took so long to finish the project.
The fabric was in the closet for so long it collected a lot of dust.  The project was daunting but I began by taking off the old cushions and unpicking one of the backs of the cushions and one of the bottoms of they cushions.  Unpick the zippers off too so I could reuse them.
Next I laid the old cushion on the new fabric and used it as a pattern.  I cut about a 1/2" extra around it to allow a little give since the other fabric was so tight on the pads.
I sewed them all together with the striped fabric for the back cushion and I did a dark blue for the bottom cushion.  I also added vinyl to the undersides of the cushions so that I could flip them over when the kids sit and eat so that it's easily cleaned.
It took me a couple weeks and lots of unpicking to get it right but I think they turned out fabulous. I'm pretty proud of myself!

Pretty much adorable right?!
